Valentine’s Matchmaker
2024
About the event
Valentine’s Day is the perfect time to create an event and engage users on the website. In the case of skinsmonkey.pl, we decided to create an event inspired by Tinder, which will not only attract the attention of players, but also provide them with unforgettable fun. Below I present an analysis of the Valentine’s Day event from the perspective of UX, UI and the AI aspect.
General rules of the game
- Duration: The event lasted for 2 weeks.
- Main Goal: Motivating users to interact with SkinsMonkey on a daily basis and perform trades on it to unlock premium monkeys, which was supposed to increase conversions.
- Attributes:
- Photo – We presented competing monkeys in extreme styles so that just from the photo it was clear which monkey was winning. Additionally, some monkeys had CS2 themes for heavily involved players.
- Favorite skin – This attribute helped in selecting a monkey when the user couldn’t recognize the skin. Often, the skin’s name itself would suggest the correct monkey.
- Location – This attribute wasn’t intended to help but rather to add CS2 lore.
- Interest – This attribute mainly served to enhance the event’s feel.
- Game mechanics:
- For each correct answer, users won tickets or a bonus for their next deposit of up to 60%.
- The more tickets a user collected, the higher their chances of winning the giveaway at the event’s end.
- On certain days, users could unlock an additional monkey (Premium Monkey) based on the total value of trades made on the site.
- A total of 8 people won.
Valentine’s Monkey World – UX & UI Perspective
Creating a Valentine’s Monkeys world, where users chose a partner each day for a love-seeking monkey, was not only a UI task, but also a key UX aspect. Interactive interface elements, such as choosing from different monkeys and their attributes, generated emotional engagement and enjoyment of the interaction. Aesthetic graphics, using modern technologies in generating and processing images of monkeys, provided visual satisfaction to users, while building visual consistency with the CS2 game.
This combination of aesthetics (UI) and functionality (UX) made interaction with the platform both visually attractive and emotionally engaging. Users felt involved in the process of selecting a partner for a monkey, which influenced their satisfaction with using the platform and increased traffic not only on the website but also on the SkinsMonkey Discord. Every day, users talked about the current monkey and built a community through it.
How has AI speed up the design process?
By using artificial intelligence to generate monkey graphics, we have not only improved efficiency, but also significantly accelerated the design process.
Each monkey would take hours or even days to draw. However, thanks to MidJournej, which, after several iterations of sending him prompts, was able to generate perfect monkeys in a consistent style in practically several dozen minutes. This, in turn, allowed us to expand the event to 2 weeks.
